There’s already a hint of it, but who will be behind the remasters of classic action-adventure games? Three possibilities come to mind.
On the ResetEra forum, it was discovered that there is a statue of the main characters from Legacy of Kain at San Diego Comic-Con, and there is a logo that openly states “Legacy Of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered”. Randy Lahrman, vice president of product development and sales at Dark Horse Comics, told GameSpot that the statue on display at the event will be released in August, with more information to be announced later. So there’s no denying that remasters are in the works!
Dark Horse Comics has not commented on the remasters, and the sign was gone by the time we got to the Comic-Con booth. Of course, this is just a ruse, as they will probably confirm them during the event. By the way, the franchise was largely created by Crystal Dynamics, and the games are still loved by many today. The first installment, Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain, was created at Silicon Knights under the direction of Dennis Dyack and published by Crystal Dynamics in 1996.

Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver followed in 1999, also developed by Crystal Dynamics and directed by Amy Hennig, who went on to write and direct the first Uncharted games for Naughty Dog. In the first Soul Reaver, we controlled a vampire, Raziel, to defeat his creator, Kain, in a 3D action-adventure. The final installment in the franchise was Legacy of Kain: Defiance, released in 2003. In 2022, Crystal Dynamics stated that there was demand for a possible Legacy of Kain sequel, as a survey of interest in the project revealed that…
But who is working on it? Option 1: Aspyr (Tomb Raider I-III remasters, for example). Option 2: Limited Run Games and the Carbon Engine (see Gex). Option 3: Nightdive Studios and the KEX Engine (e.g. Shadow Man Remastered). We’ll see.
