PC Players Won’t Have to Wait for Firesprite’s Horror Game? [VIDEO]

PlayStation Studios has plenty of unannounced games in the pipeline (likely to be revealed at the rumored PlayStation Showcase in September), and Firesprite is in the works, which may not keep PC gamers waiting…

Firesprite is currently working on a single-player narrative-driven horror game, but no further details are available. The studio was acquired by Sony in 2021, and details about the project have been leaked for years. There was an internal document that gave us the codename of the game internally (Heartbreak). On the Last Stand Media podcast, Colin Moriarty said that the game could be set on an island with a female protagonist.

Emily Stell, the game designer at Firesprite, described the project on her website as a narrative-driven horror game coming to PlayStation 5 and PC, and that it could be made with Unreal Engine 5, which is being used by almost everyone these days. Many PlayStation exclusives have already received a PC port, such as Returnal, Ghost of Tsushima or The Last of Us Part 1. Then there’s Ren Alex-Rose: he was the writer of Firesprite from 2022 until April of this year, and he created characters and storylines “within pre-existing IP”, which confirms our suspicions. Finally, there is Andreas Houin, who is also currently working as an environmental artist at Firesprite. Themes of cosmic horror, architecture and science fiction appear on Pinterest.

Some people suspect that this is not a new IP, but that Firesprite is making a new episode for an existing IP. Among them is Jason Schreier, who writes for Bloomberg, who talked about it on Reddit. So there are still a lot of question marks, but something could change: now Sony might not give PlayStation 5 a multi-month, year-long exclusivity, but instead release the game on PS5 and PC at the same time. This has never really happened before, and Concord is about to change that.

However, this is not official yet…
