Focus Entertainment and Saber Interactive have been able to bounce back quickly from the lows that have dragged down the marketing around the game.
We’ve previously reported that the art book included in the collector’s edition of Warhammer 40K: Space Marine II was leaked months before its release (which is questionable to say the least), and then recently we reported that an early full version of the game was leaked, which is a problematic event to say the least.
The demo at this time last year wasn’t in very good shape, as the combat was still a bit difficult, even considering that you were controlling a transhuman with huge armor. So it was no surprise when Saber Interactive announced in November that they needed time to knead the game to a decent quality. It looks like they got it right, if the seven-minute recording embedded below is anything to go by. The third-person shooting and hack’n’slash (because sometimes you have to hit your enemies that way) will be strong, and from what we’ve seen so far, it won’t lack for atmosphere.
You can see footage of the cooperative, PvE game mode, Operations, but PvP also makes an appearance in the video. Fortunately, it’s not the only thing the game consists of, so if you prefer to go solo, you’ll have that option as well. There’s a second video, though, that features half an hour of 4K-quality footage, so you can get even more immersed in what the long-awaited sequel to Space Marines has to offer.
The release date for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine II won’t change, as it’s not that far away, and it would be a real shame if Focus Entertainment delayed the release again (especially after the previous, more substantial delay), so there’s nothing stopping the game from being released on September 9th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC.
