At Gamescom 2014, Sony announced that the PlayStation 4 has reached an important milestone: 10 million units sold worldwide. That’s nearly double the number of consoles sold back in February, when Sony revealed that it had moved 5.3 million consoles across the globe.
The PS4 has routinely outsold the Xbox One since the two consoles launched last year, moving more units than Microsoft‘s machine in each of the past six months in the US — this despite a recent Xbox One sales bump caused by a cheaper, Kinect-free version of the console.
Microsoft held a press conference earlier today but didn’t announce any new sales data, though at the very least the Xbox is getting an exclusive in the form of the next Tomb Raider game as well as a pair of new console bundles.
