Gamescom 2014: Rise of the Tomb Raider Announced as Xbox Exclusive

Yes, you have heard it right. If you own only a PS4 and don’t own an Xbox One, you won’t play the next episode in the Tomb Raider. Yes, even if you own a decent PC, you won’t be able to play Rise of the Tomb Raider. It’s not even a console exclusive like Titanfall was. Or a timed exclusive. It will be on Xbox One and Xbox 360 only. Period.

If there’s one franchise which was never exclusive to any platform, it’s the Tomb Raider games. Since the very first game 18 years ago, every Tomb Raider games were always available on more than one platforms and each and every Tomb Raider game was available on the PC.

The Tomb Raider reboot last year was a great technical achievement on the PC, and Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition was an extremely well made remastered version, with 1080p and 60 FPS, while the Xbox One version was only 900p. On comparison videos the PS4 version was clearly superior.

Now because of those reasons giving it Microsoft just doesn’t make sense. Ok, I know it makes sense because money is involved. But it’s not a promising brand new IP, which will make its glorious way on the Xbox One (like TItanfall was presumed to do so) it’s not Halo, it’s just Tomb Raider which was always available to anyone and the last game of the new series was not only multiplatform but it was actually prettier on PS4.

It’s just plain stupid, but we have to live with that. Bye bye Lara! Can’t wait for the next Uncharted…
