Sony will focus more on PlayStation in the future

Sony’s PlayStation division is very profitable — so profitable in fact that the recent earnings report demonstrared that the gaming division, led by the PlayStation 4, were the only division that made money for the Japanese company.Of course, Sony wants to focus more on what makes money and less on what loses money. Company sources told, that in fact Sony now whises to downsize their TV and smartphone business, and focus more on gaming with the PS4 and PS Vita.

In that regard, Sony wants to reorganize and downsize the mobile division, which will probably lose $1.7 billion this fiscal year. Last fiscal quarter, losses at the mobile division erased all of the profits made by the PlayStation 4.They also also plan to cut down their TV business as well, which isn’t profitable either. On the other side, while the TV and mobile businesses are losing money left and right, the PlayStation division made a lot of money in 2014. Led by the PlayStation 4, the PlayStation division will have a $265 million profit.

Sony has been struggling over the past few years, posting yearly losses that have resulted in a falling share price. However, thanks to the PlayStation 4, things seem to be headed in the right direction for the Japanese company.
