Guillermo del Toro has announced that after seeing two of his projects getting cancelled in succession that he would rather not participate in another game ever again – he told this to Shack News in an interview.
Two projects? Yes, back in 2012, his first cancellation was Insane, which got the rug removed from under it because the publishers – THQ – were slowly creeping towards their coffin. The other one is obviously Silent Hills, which Konami deleted a few months before.
„I joined THQ, and they ended up going bankrupt. Then I joined Kojima, and he ends up leaving Konami. I have decided, in order not to destroy anyone else’s life, I have decided I will never again get involved in video games. Otherwise, I’ll join someone and his house will explode, or something.” – said the known producer.
So it looks like Kojima and del Toro won’t work together even without Konami, despite both parties showing interest. Sure, they will still remain friends, but they won’t work together as collagues. (Unless Kojima ends up becoming a director. Now THAT would be something interesting.)
