Nvidia GeForce RTX 5000: Even System Integrators Get Them at a Premium? [VIDEO]

TECH NEWS – The availability of Nvidia’s latest Blackwell architecture graphics cards is limited, to say the least.

The availability situation has pretty much overshadowed the results of the GeForce RTX 5000 graphics cards. We found that retailers were reporting “single-digit” inventory levels, while the demand for new graphics cards was nothing short of gigantic. They were also unable to maintain the entire supply chain, which eventually led to a domino effect. The scalpers took advantage of the situation and once again everything got screwed, but not only for the consumers in the field, but also for a system integrator! It’s PowerGPU, and the company’s CEO Jesse Martinez has expressed his frustration with the situation.

“Basically, the RTX 5090 has been a very hard GPU to get, and we, as a system integrator, are also having difficulty getting these GPUs. We’ve gotten a very limited amount since launch, and it took us about two or three weeks to get our first batch. Now, as we go into mid-March, we are essentially being scalped by distribution. We are being offered the RTX 5090s anywhere from $3,050 to $3,100. These are lower-end models, not crazy high-end GPUs,” Martinez said.

The CEO added that the high price of the prebuilds assembled with the RTX 5090 is not their fault at all, but rather the distribution channels are ripping them off. This is an interesting situation within the existing supply chain because it shows the turmoil that has been going on since the launch of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5000 cards, and it’s mainly the high-end models (like the RTX 5090) that are most affected. Considering that system integrators, who have more exclusive access to the supply chain, are facing such hurdles, we dare not imagine how much an ordinary user could be ripped off: it is really rare to see new graphics cards at MSRP these days.

PowerGPU is not a mainstream Nvidia partner, but it seems that the situation is indeed far from what we could call optimal. The company hasn’t said it’s committed to shipping larger kits for nothing, and with the RTX 5060 Ti, RTX 5060 and RTX 5050 coming soon, it’s time to get serious about the demand.
