DigitalFoundry has put together another interesting comparison: this time around, they threw the three original PlayStation 3 Uncharted 3 games against the PlayStation 4-exclusive The Nathan Drake Collection, which is going to be out in early October. (We can even say that Nathan is now fighting against himself.)
They think it’s going to be a bit more than just a lazy remaster, but the question is: will the cutscenes on the PlayStation 4 be still pre-rendered? If yes, they will definitely take a lot of space up on the disc, so would it be a multi-disc release physically?
If these are converted to real-time in-game scenes, then there might be a significant improvement while cutting down the space used for cutscenes…
Drake’s model also received a great boost, because even if we compare the PS3 models of the first and the third game, there is a noticable difference. The collection tried to go for a somewhat standardized look for all three games. The textures also received a visually noticable upgrade, as well as the explosion and fire effects. But there’s no motion blur…
There are interesting things behind the scenes, we’ll see in October how much the franchise improved by jumping generations…
