PREVIEW – Did you know, when was the first eSport competition ever held in the world? You will be surprised about the date, so prepare yourself! The first competition was at Stanford University in 1972… Students from the school were invited to an “intergalactic spacewar olympics” and the prize was a year’s subscription for Rolling Stone. Are you interested about which game was the first eSport game of the world? I’ll tell you guys. It was the Spacewar! Guys of Stanford started something in 1972… that we will continue.
Siege
Rainbow Six Siege tries to replace esport-ranklist of games, because the developers made this entry of the franchise specifically for e-sports. Of course we will get a single player campaign, and I think it will be great as the previous game’s campaign, but in the Siege, the focus will be on multiplayer. We were raised in the days when gamers could not be satisfied without a perfectly balanced multiplayer mode, because everybody wants to kick the others ass. In the new R6 we can fight in several different game modes, but the creators have not told us, which popular modes will coming with the game. The only one mode we currently know of is the 5vs 5 battles.
After 7 years
If you love team-based tactical first person shooters, you probably know of this franchise from Ubisoft. With their last release, Vegas they earned a really noticeable success in multiplayer games. Vegas was the most played team based TPS on Xbox Live for years after its release. There are millions of players who played it every day and every night for the best kills and also for achievements. It was the biggest success that Ubisoft could achieve back in the day. There was many releases in Rainbow Six series before, but Vegas was the best! Developers tried to emulate Vegas’s successes with Siege.
When Ubisoft started to present their new features in their new tactically fps game, we could notice, it will be very refined fps. The best innovation (unfortunately… I will write about it later) of the game will be the multiplayer spectator mode that was developed for feedback, and also for the professional commentators. This feature will raise Rainbow Six Siege’s chance on the industry of E-sport multiplayer games. It will be the difference between COD, CS and RSS.
Separated
Rainbow Six Siege will be similar as Counter Strike, but in Siege the bad guys will be separated from the good guys. In each round bad guys can vote for a room (of the building) and they can decide where they will hide their hostages. Then the armed police will breach the building somewhere and try to free the hostages. Is it simple? Yes. Is it Easy? No! Will it be Complex? Yep!
The possibility of hiding hostages is amazing! Your team can explore all the buildings, and you can create your own strategy of the hiding, and also the protection! If you are good guy, you need to penetrate to the building, explore the building, and kill all the enemies, to rescue the hostages.
Enough for me
Rainbow Six Siege will be a great game in the world of multiplayer fps games, but I think it’s a bit slim in terms of what we know about the new game from Ubisoft. R6S will be released in 2015 on the 13th of October, and that is all what we know about the game. There will be some interesting new features, besides the spectator mode for commentators, and the separated maps for the new experiences, but nothing else was revealed to us. Maybe next time.
