Although Sony has already locked the doors of Psygnosis/Studio Liverpool several yars ago, it doesn’t seem unlikely that the the futuristic racing can return in the future. WipEout is twenty years old now, as the first episode launched in 1995 on the classic PlayStation, offering a fast pace, ruthless gameplay and a big dose of adrenaline. The last game in the franchise launched in 2012 – shortly after the launch of WipEout 2048 on the PlayStation Vita, the studio turned defunct, although they were already working on a PlayStation 4 game…
Shuhei Yoshida, the boss of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios has talked about it during EGX – he doesn’t say no to a new WipEout game. Still, he tries to balance out the episodes of games, but he might end up giving out the order to someone to begin work on a new game.
The problem is that Sony is working on several new IPs and titles, and there is not even a guess on when WipEout can return. Just don’t screw this up, as seen with Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5, which is absolutely horrible. Would be appreciate that?
