Most likely, Star Wars fans are already preparing for the beta (which will be 7 gigabytes of size) of Star Wars Battlefront, which will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC for free between October 8 and October 12. We wrote about several things, when it comes to this game (including the game modes in the beta, and other things of the full game), but there has been one question unanswered up to now: will the beta be online-only?
Yes. Although the beta test will launch with the Survival Mission mode, which will be playable in the retail game offline, we cannot do this during the betatesting. This was confirmed by Battlefront’s community manager Mat Everett – the same guy, who talked about how the game will not have a server browser and no Battlelog either (although the latter one will be replaced by a new system).
Why is this? Why is Survival Mission online-only in the beta? Everett wasn’t able to give a response to it. Let’s just hope that the final game will require an internet connection, just like Need For Speed will! (And that is also an EA game…) But Everett said two weeks ago that the beta will be playable offline too… what gives?
