The good old PlayStation Portable was the first handheld that started a new line-up in the Sony PlayStation hardware. Sadly, its successor, the PlayStation Vita isn’t that big of a success – it looks very possible that the Japanese company will not make a third PlayStation handheld due to mobile gaming having a huge market share at the moment. Still, let’s not forget about the PSP, which had several good games, for example, God of War: Chains of Olympus, which was excellent back in the day.
Sony announced that the Japanese PlayStation Store on the PSP would close on March 31, 2016. That means you will not be able to access it from this handheld anymore, plus the UMD Passport service will be disabled as well. Still, you will be able to access the content from other platforms (PS3, PS Vita, PC, or mobile devices), so you don’t have to leave fully the PSP behind.
It was expected to happen, though; as Windows XP’s support ended, so will Windows 7’s. Just as with consoles: one day, the PlayStation Vita will be fully left behind, too…
