Square Enix is working on two Kingdom Hearts game simultaneously: while the long-awaited third main episode, which is going to use Unreal Engine 4 is in development, the somewhat ridiculously named HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue is also being made for the PlayStation 4. Both games were shown at Jump Festa.
HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue is going to be a compilation of several titles exclusively for the PS4: Dream Drop Distance HD will make the jump over to Sony‘s console from the Nintendo 3DS; the cinematic cutscenes from the Japan-only mobile Unchained χ will also be included; plus there’ll be a new game, 0.2 Birth By Sleep – A Fragmentary Passage on the Blu-ray disc. The last one will tie up to the events of Kingdom Hearts 3. (Is it possible to follow our train of thought?) This is a way to get this compilation sold as well.
In the trailer below, we can see several minutes of Kingdom Hearts 3 gameplay. It includes the brand new Attraction Flow attack in combat, too. But… when is it going to launch? We already know that HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue will drop next year, but 3, which will be available on the Xbox One too, still has no release date. However, it already looks adorable and stylish!
