We rarely hear about Ninja Theory, although the British developer team is PlayStation-related – for example, the 2007 PS3-exclusive Heavenly Sword was made by them, but we could also mention the 2010 multiplat Enslaved: Odyssey to the West as well. Since then, they’ve been working on Hellblade. They announced this in 2014 at the Gamescom.
According to the devs, this game is going to be an „independent AAA” title, making good use of the Unreal Engine 4 in its action-hack ‘n’ slash gameplay. For us, its artistic style is one of the most promising elements of Hellblade, maybe this will be one of the things that can turn the game into a sleeper hit. Sadly, we don’t know its concrete release date yet, but Ninja Theory confirmed that it’ll happen this year. Also, the game will be out on the PlayStation 4 and PC at the same time.
Until then, check out this video below taken from Gamescom 2015 – the melee combat isn’t the best, but the game code was in an early state back then.
