Codemasters could be great if they wanted to. While the F1 games don’t improve that much year in, year out, the rally genre is something where this team feels home at. Soon, the development work will finish on the PS4 and Xbox One versions as the disc will be in our hands in a little more than two months!
Codies still focus on 1080p/60fps on consoles – the PS4 won’t give them much trouble to pull this off, but the Xbox One version is a little problematic. They’ll have to get around this with the dynamic resolution change.
With the launch of the console versions, a new, free update will also drop on all three platforms. Seven new cars (Peugeot 208T16 Pikes Peak, Alpine A110… why do we have the feeling that it’s an underhanded uppercut towards Sebastien Loeb Rally Evo?), Classic Mini and Super 1600 modes – making rally-cross available from launch -, plus we will also get the vintage, gravel Pikes Peak track.
There’s also going to be a Legend Edition from April 5 – this nets us a fully tuned, custom painted Mini Cooper S right from the start with a mechanics, a Steelbook and a drivers’ guide to improving our driving style.
Seb Loeb Rally Evo and WRC 5 won’t be sitting on that throne for long.
