If a game gets delayed nowadays, we’d just raise our hands – almost every second major release suffers from a delay of launch. However, this Japanese PlayStation Vita game called Uppers‘ delaying was explained for an unexpected reason.
Marvelous, the developers behind Uppers say that they had to delay their upcoming title due to the lack of pre-orders. No joke, this is their explanation for the delay from April 24 to an indefinite launch day for Uppers!
Who knows, maybe the (lack of) success behind Uppers will be the first in many cases that could happen in the future. In 2015, there already was a scandal behind Deus Ex: Mankind Divided – Square Enix and Eidos decided to drop the pre-ordering perks entirely. (And delay the game as well, to boot.)
However, isn’t this case interesting that the game didn’t even get a new release date? Is Uppers delayed indefinitely due to a lack of budget for development? Perhaps this is the reason Marvelous had to do so.
