There is a country where you don’t have to pay for the Xbox Live service. This is no joke, one country offers a free, although severely limited service. It is China. Sony and Microsoft managed to enter finally a high-potential market after the lift of the 14-year long console ban.
So far, Microsoft planned to have only a limited period of free service to make Chinese Xbox owners to subscribe. However, the „beta” phase was supposed to end a week ago. Xbox Live is still free! The „greens” got a large amount of people being angry at them for their reversal because they already paid for a subscription!
In China, the government censors take a lot of time to check the games before allowing them to enter the market. Xbox games are no exception. In fact, the Chinese people are locked down within their country on Xbox Live! Microsoft planned to integrate the Chinese network into the worldwide one – guess what? It didn’t happen yet.
Microsoft has another plans, too: in a survey, they have a question. Would we sell back our used games for 10% of the original price? No typo there, ten percent of the original cost of the game. You buy a game for 60; you’d get 6 bucks in Xbox Store credit (or Windows Store in the future).
No wonder why physical games are still sought after: you can sell them for more money…
