MOVIE NEWS – Ben Affleck‘s agent reveals that while the actor is only contracted to appear in both ‘Justice League’ movies, there may still be a new ‘Batman’ movie in the works.
Some months before Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was released, rumors already emerged that Warner Bros. was so impressed with Ben Affleck‘s presentation as the dark knight, that they were working on a new deal for the actor to star in and direct a new Batman trilogy.
The actor had signed on to co-write the script for a still unknown Batman Reboot with Geoff Johns, which he’ll also star in and direct. That project hasn’t been officially confirmed by Warner Bros. yet, or given a release date by the studio, but The Hollywood Reporter recently spoke with the actor’s agent, CAA’s Patrick Whitesell, who also confirmed the script is indeed done, and added that his client is locked in to star in Justice League Part 1 and Justice League Part 2.
“He’s contracted to do at least Justice League Part 1 and Justice League Part 2, so at least three times wearing the cape. There’s a script that he’s written that is a really cool [Batman] idea, so that’s out there as an option.”
Back in August, a rumor rose that Warner Bros. wanted to confine Ben Affleck to be the new Batman for at least the next decade, since they consider him to be “the definitive Batman.” That report also claimed that the studio wants Ben Affleck to star in an entire Batman trilogy, but as of now, nothing has been confirmed quite yet. There is another project, though, that is not a part of the actor’s deal with Warner Bros.
According to MovieWeb, when Suicide Squad was in production Ben Affleck was set to reappear as the The Dark Knight, and he was even seen in the first trailer atop The Joker’s (Ben Affleck) moving car. The actor is believed to have a small cameo appearance in Suicide Squad, but this movie does not count as part of his deal with Warner Bros. There have also been rumors that Batman will surface towards the end of the movie, during a massive prison riot involving The Joker.
Production begins April 11 on Justice League Part 1 at Leavesden Studios in the U.K. Director Zack Snyder has said that Batman will be responsible for assembling the Justice League, who will most likely face a new threat from Darkseid. The villain’s iconic omega symbol was teased in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Do you hope Ben Affleck‘s Untitled Batman Reboot will see the light of day?
