MOVIE NEWS – The American actor is in Oxford, part of the filming for new The Mummy reboot.
In January this year, Universal Pictures confirmed that its remake of The Mummy, starring Mr. Cruise alongside Sofia Boutella as the undead villain, would be released in March 2017.
Tom Cruise’s ‘Mummy’ Reboot will also cast Annabelle Wallis, who will perform as an archaeologist in the movie.
The studio appointed Alex Kurtzman and Chris Morgan last summer to help expand a monster universe for Universal with the rebooted versions of classic monster movies. Kurtzman is also the director and will produce alongside Morgan and Sean Daniel. Jon Spaihts is writing the script.
The film now has begun its production, and we’ve got the first look at Tom Cruise as the new lead of the rebooted franchise. The “Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation” actor was spotted filming a night scene for the new movie in Oxford, England on Tuesday, April 5.
Wearing a long sleeve blue shirt and dark pants, Cruise was joined by co-star Annabelle Wallis. She was sporting a white shirt and gray jeans. The two looked like to have a serious conversation on the street. During a break, the two bundled up in coats to keep themselves warm while sitting next to each other.
In “The Mummy” reboot, Cruise will play a special forces soldier while Wallis stars an archaeologist slash scientist. Plot details are still scarce, but Sofia Boutella has been cast as the gender-bending titular monster.
