Can This THQ Game Getting Revived Again?

Patrice Désilets‘ name wasn’t in the news for multiple years now. It’s not a problem, though – we’d remind you that he was one of the creators of the Assassin’s Creed franchise. He also had a certain game that we haven’t heard of for a long time. There are signs that it might eventually return.

1666 was Désilets’ project when he left Ubisoft to join THQ. However, THQ went bankrupt, and its Montreal studio was purchased by Ubisoft. Désilets kept working on his project until he was fired from its old-new workplace. In May 2013, Ubisoft announced that 1666 is now halted indefinitely. Désilets fought for his project to no avail.

Silently, Ubisoft filed a trademark for this name. It looks like the French company doesn’t want to throw 1666 out if they return to it after three years. We don’t know what will happen, but the trademark filing is an ominous sign. We don’t think Ubisoft will announce 1666 at E3, but who knows? We shall see…

Anikó, our news editor and communication manager, is more interested in the business side of the gaming industry. She worked at banks, and she has a vast knowledge of business life. Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
