As time passes, finishing manufacturing of older consoles make sense. We have seen this with the PlayStation 2, we have jumped from the PSP to the PS Vita, but the PS TV also silently shut down. Now, we have to talk about a different console.
It is the Xbox 360. Its production ended. This announcement was made by Microsoft today. Phil Spencer, Xbox-boss said the following: „”While we’ve had an amazing run, the realities of manufacturing a product over a decade old are starting to creep up on us, which is why we have made the decision to stop manufacturing new Xbox 360 consoles. We will continue to sell existing inventory of Xbox 360 consoles, with availability varying by country.”
What about servers? Microsoft states that they will stay online, so in case you haven’t made the jump to the current console generation yet, you can still play on the good old (really, this console launched in 2005!) X360.
It’s just a question of time before AAA games entirely stop receiving prev-gen ports. Remember, even Call of Duty Black Ops III came out on the Xbox 360!
