Well, it seems that we finally got our full reveal of the new expansion that is set to be released in September 2016. Destiny Rise of Iron is a new expansion that reveals the fates of the Iron Lords, give us a new Fallen themed raid, plus a new strike.
The most important part though is that support for the decade-old hardware has been dropped. That’s right! This expansion will only be available to PS4 and Xbox One users; it seems Bungie and Activision are finally pulling the plug on the old hardware.
Does this mean anything at all for Rise of Iron? Will we get new vault space? Maybe bigger fireteam events?! Nah not really, but it does set the stage for Destiny 2. We can finally rest easy that Destiny 2 would be held back by old generation consoles as this was the fear of many gamers. With this move, we can be 100% sure that Destiny 2 will be this generation only.
The full list of new items can be seen here, though some are pretty vague:
INCLUDES:
New Story Campaign & Quests
New Armor and Gear
New Weapons
New Raid
Maximum Light Increase
New Strike
New Plaguelands Zone & Social Space
New Crucible Mode & Maps
New Enemy Faction and Bosses
Also, we are getting the Gjallarhorn for Year Two, but we can also get the Iron Gjallarhorn if you preorder! We will give you a full preview once E3 hits, and a review once the game is released in September.
