Poland: Financial Support For The Devs By The State!

Poland might be setting a trend for the approach to video game development.

The Polish government and CD Projekt RED have teamed up to support the struggling developers. The total sum for this fund is 20 million dollars worth of zloty, and this money is aimed at devs to help their creativity earn results and experiment with – to them, unusual – things. The minimum and maximum amount is 130 thousand dollars and 5.2 million, respectively – devs don’t have to pay it back. The amount of financial support depends on how many people works in the team, what project it is aimed at, and the will to share the results with others.

There are a few hurdles: the games can be under development for only three years, and the funding wouldn’t be covering the total cost of developing the game, only 40-80 percent.

On paper, this idea sounds amazing, and we can see the results by 2020. If an ex-Eastern Bloc country can pull it off, it should be an inspiration to other countries.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
