Believe it or not, Shenmue III‘s Kickstarter – pardon the pun – kicked ass a year ago. Yu Suzuki quickly took advantage of this anniversary, and he grabbed a camera to inform us about the game’s development.
About time this update happened: we haven’t heard a lot of Shenmue III in the past few months because Ys Net – the developers – quietly walked away to work on the game, which is set to launch on PlayStation 4 and PC. As you can hear in the video, the development ramped up in the first half of 2016 after the devs got used to Unreal Engine 4. Suzuki and co. have been working on the prototype January: the fighting and the facial animations are shaping up to be complete.
After yesterday’s System Shock Reboot Kickstarter, we still have some belief in crowdfunding, thanks to Shenmue III as well. The game should be out by December 2017, on the previously mentioned two platforms. Keep it up!
