MOVIE NEWS – It seems, that the fact that Disney bought Lucasfilm was actually a good omen. In fact, by the end of this month, three new Star Wars movies will have officially been completed since Disney buyout way back in 2012. We have to confess – Mickey Mouse and all – that’s not a bad track record.
We only have a few more months to wait before Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will hit the theaters this Christmas. And Star Wars: Episode VIII won’t be there for another year and a half. Still, according to star Mark Hamill, the next chapter in the Skywalker family saga is on the verge of calling it a day.
Way back in April, director Rian Johnson announced that production was halfway through while sharing a couple of black and white photos from the set. Today, Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill, used Twitter to officially announce the wrap date.
It wraps on Friday July 22nd 2016 #LooseLipsSinkStarships#W8ForVIII#DontBeAHomer#PatienceMyPadawans#Rogue1Soonerhttps://t.co/92syo6m36d

Funny tidbit: before June came to a close earlier this week, Mark Hamill inadvertently caused some controversy when he tweeted that he’d be “out of work” following Star Wars 8.
Many thought this to believe that Luke dies at some point during Episode VIII. Hamill quickly corrected this, tweeting that he only meant he’d be done with his job, not that he would or wouldn’t be coming back to the Star Wars universe in the future. He shared this cover-up with fans about his unintentional slip.
