In his interview with The Guardian Fumito Ueda, creator of ICO, Shadow of the Colossus, and The Last Guardian has talked about the long-awaited (and since then, generation-jumping) The Last Guardian.
Ueda says that they still have to find a healthy balance for Trico‘s behavior. „To be honest, we’re still fine-tuning Trico’s behaviors, there are two extremes – if you can fully control a character, what’s the point? It becomes a pet. But at the opposite end if you can’t control it at all it becomes a nuisance, a barrier to progression. We’re still trying to find the balance.”
He also mentioned his departure from Sony. „There was a lot of learning; it’s hard to explain, to describe it in words at this moment. In life, there are always things that mesh well, and things that don’t. In various ways, that applies to what we’ve done in the last few years.”
Trico, the large beast, will be able to be tamed after a while (but not fully!) on October 25, as this is when The Last Guardian launches as a PS4-exclusive.
