Blizzard Honors A Deceased Fan Of Overwatch

With Overwatch, Blizzard pays tribute to a player, who lost his life a single day (!) before the final game launched.

Hongyu Wu was a twenty-year-old university student. He saw his friend’s bike being stolen by a thief, so he decided to chase him on his bike. The thief and Wu collided – Wu lost his life due to his severe injuries, and the bike stealer ended up in prison. Blizzard honors Wu in a sublime, yet reasonable way. You can see how on the image below. A small explanation: in the Control Center of Lijang Tower, the space suit and the red wall text behind it was changed. On the suit, you can read Hongyu’s name while the wall behind it says Mercy’s catchphrase, „Heroes Never Die.”

This tribute shows another example of a high-profile game developer having a human face. Wu, who wasn’t able to get the final version of Overwatch, is now part of the game.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
