Lara was let out of the bag, so after Gamestop Italy’s leak, Square Enix and Sony rather decided to reveal Rise of the Tomb Raider‘s PlayStation 4 port.
The leaked date was correct: Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration will indeed arrive on October 11. (The title is a little awkward: Tomb Raider launched on November 14, 1996, on the PlayStation, and even the SEGA Saturn got the game on October 25. Anyway, moving on.)
The game won’t be just a single port. Instead, it is going to be expanded: a new chapter, Blood Ties, will allow us to discover the Croft Manor, and in Lara’s Nightmare, we will have to defend it from the undead. That’s not all: the Croft Manor will also receive VR-support: you can play Blood Ties on your PlayStation VR as well.
The Endurance mode will get an online co-op expansion; the campaign receives an Extreme Survivor difficulty level, Lara gets a new outfit (mixing the present with the past due to the Tomb Raider III-esque weapon), but we can also replace the modern Lara with five retro models of her, too. Of course, all the DLCs, costumes, cards, and weapons will also be included. There will also be a limited edition, which will also contain an art book.
But look at the box art… is it similar to Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection? Well, according to Neil Druckmann, the creative director, and co-writer of Uncharted 4, said this on Twitter: „First Melania Trump (he means the similarity of her speech to Michelle Obama’s words – the editor) and now this. (Excited to play Rise on my PS4).” There are some noticeable similarities.
Still, Lara is heading to the PS4 with a ton of extras.
First Melania Trump and now this. ?
