After Keiji Inafune has left Capcom, the Japanese company effectively stopped working on new Mega Man games. Outside Super Smash Bros., nothing new emerged. A new game might arrive shortly, though!
It’s official that the Blue Bomber is getting a brand new cartoon. The rumors say that there is going to be a cartoon tie-in game as well. According to The Mega Man Network, the new title would still be a two-dimensional platformer, but with high definition graphics. Also, the boss names would not use the word “Man”, which has been a trend in all ten numbered installments. Instead, names such as Frostbite Sonata, Saber Waltz, or Flare Symphony would be used.
The new game would be available in two forms. One is the „main” version developed internally by Capcom for a digital release on Xbox One, Wii U, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita (!!!), and PC, while the other is being outsourced to an undisclosed company to be developed for the Nintendo 3DS and mobile platforms with „weaker” graphics and possibly touch features implemented. It would be similar, if not identical, to the first version. We’ll see about that, but Mega‘s new look is unusual. We have to get used to that.
