Konami kept their promise: they will continue the Metal Gear franchise without Kojima. We can see its first new result (we’re not counting pachinko spin-offs/ports).
Metal Gear Survive, which will launch in 2017 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, will be a „four-player cooperative survival game” according to Konami. Its plot will be put after the events of Metal Gear Solid V in an alternative timeline.
We have multiple questions: how come Konami makes a game outside Pro Evolution Soccer for CONSOLES? Why did they turn Kojima‘s ideas into a Resident Evil title? Metal Gear Survive looks like Umbrella Corps repainted into Metal Gear…
We’d like to quote a few YouTube comments. Their opinion, as well as their ratings (433 likes to 1703 dislikes at the moment of writing the article!), are congruous. „Seriously, they made a zombie game?”, „They didn’t learn from Capcom.”, „Metal Gear Survive? More Like Metal Gear Can’t Survive Without Kojima!”, and an opposing comment: „Revengeance was good, it IS possible to make a game without Kojima. Don’t write this off so quickly.”
We’ll see next year.
