Ubisoft‘s CEO, Yves Guillemot, has a sharply positive opinion about the Nintendo NX.
While Ubisoft is in danger of being taken over by Vivendi in a hostile fashion as early as next week, the French company is moving forward. Guillemot had said the following to Gamespot at a Ubisoft presentation: „The new Nintendo console is a fantastic machine. It’s really a new approach, it’s really Nintendo, which is coming with something new again. We love it.” The NX is rumored to be a handheld-desktop console hybrid. Despite being just half a year away from launching, we still haven’t seen an official reveal yet.
Guillemot continues: „We always take disruptions on the positive side. We think each time that it’s an opportunity for our creators to take more risks. When a machine is installed, there are a certain number of brands that take up the time of players, so they’re going to buy the next Assassin’s Creed. Even if they say, ‘I’m interested in what you’re doing,’ at the end of the day they first buy what they know, then go somewhere else.” One of the examples that underline his thought would be ZombiU on the Wii U. It ended up getting a PS4/X1/PC port under the name Zombi.
While the initial thoughts feel all sunny, what about long-term support? Will we see the repeat of the Wii U?
