CD Projekt RED has shifted to a higher gear.
According to GamePressure, the Polish developers, who put a record amount of employees on the development of Cyberpunk 2077, will likely present significant changes in their next game.
Via the GameINN program, the devs want to get more money for Cyberpunk 2077, and they used the following terms: „City Creation,” „Animation Excellence,” „Cinematic Feel,” and „Seamless Multiplayer.”
We need to point two of these out. The first grant for City Creation is described as „a complex technology for creating a huge living city, playable in real time, which [the technology] is based on rules, AI, and automation, and supports innovative processes and tools for making top-notch open-world games.” The description means the players’ and NPCs’ actions would change the city. The seamless multiplayer‘s grant reads „a complex technology for making unique multiplayer gameplay mechanics, including the ability to search for opponents, manage game session, replicate objects, and support for different game modes along with a unique set of dedicated tools.” In open-world games, such as the upcoming Watch Dogs 2, we can see an example of this thing.
If these ideas are implemented in the upcoming PC/PlayStation 4/Xbox One games, we’ll have to look for our jaws on the floor.
