Before the two Dishonored games, Arkane was working on something different – it’s just a small segment of their past, though.
They were developing on an FPS called The Crossing, which was planning to mix singleplayer with multiplayer in some form of „crossplay”. However, due to financial issues, the game was put on hold in 2009, and perhaps this is the reason why ZeniMax, owners of Bethesda, bought Arkane in 2010.
Roughly 7.5 years later, ZeniMax filed for a trademark at the United States Patent & Trademark Office, but as expected, Bethesda doesn’t comment about the situation. Why would they register it long after abandoning the game if they don’t have plans to revive the project?
On the other hand, we have two examples against The Crossing: Call of Duty’s Future and Space Warfare. These names were just registered, but Infinite Warfare was chosen for the game that comes in two weeks.
Still, have a look at the original teaser of The Crossing.
