[E3 2017] FIFA 18 Has A Co-Op Story Mode; Switch Port Information [VIDEO]

During EA Play, sports games took up a large chunk of time.

We’re not talking about the Men In Blazers football banter (we’d rather forget about that…), and not about the eSport self-praise either. Let’s talk about the game instead.

Alex Hunter, the star of FIFA 17’s The Journey (aka the story mode), will return, and EA had the balls to make a trailer for Hunter and what people think about him. Even Cristiano Ronaldo, this year’s cover star, makes an appearance – Ronaldo’s moves were motion captured to be utilized in FIFA 18.

GameInformer reports that we can play through The Journey with a friend on a per-match basis. The world will expand: new characters will show up, and we will also be able to customize Hunter’s appearance throughout the six chapters with locations from Brazil to the United States, each having its unique objective. You can also import your FIFA 17 save as well to lift your personality and trophies over to the current title.

The Nintendo Switch port, which wasn’t mentioned during the EA Play event whatsoever, got some new information. Quoting the press release, „This new edition brings the modes fans know and love, including FIFA Ultimate Team, Career Mode, Kick Off and Local Seasons, making it the deepest portable game ever to be introduced by EA Sports FIFA. Ultimate Team fans will get to participate in beloved features like Squad Building Challenges, Online and Offline Seasons, Tournaments, and Draft. Players will enjoy live campaigns connected to the narrative of the football season, the Transfer Market, and more Ultimate Team features that will be revealed very soon.” It also says „players can participate in Local Seasons across two Switch consoles, as well as Kick-Off mode, Career, Online Seasons, Tournaments, Women’s International Cup and Skill Games.” What it doesn’t mention is that the Switch port will not have The Journey mode, and it will also not use the Frostbite engine.

FIFA 18 is out on September 29 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and possibly the Switch port launches the same day as the others.
