Gabe Newell‘s service is unstoppable.
Steam. Almost everyone has it installed on their computers – we included -, and think about it: since January 2016, roughly 1.5 years ago, twenty-seven million new, paying (could be free-to-play titles, too!) users joined the service. That’s roughly 1.7 million per month. Imagine Budapest, Hungary’s capital, join Steam with all its citizens every single month!
GamesIndustry reports that 17% of the users are located in South Korea, Japan, and China, and 60% of the sales are made in North America and Europe. On a monthly basis, 67 million users fire up Gabe’s system, while daily, 33 million players use it.
In February 2015, 8.9 million concurrent users were using Steam. Nowadays, it’s 14 million! Last year, Valve said it had 125 million lifetime users – we are now over 150 million with the new figures.
