Open World Games Sell Well, Bethesda’s Titles Are Behind The 8 Ball!

In the United States, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus and The Evil Within 2 didn’t sell that well.

The American NPD Group has revealed the October charts for both game and console sales. The Nintendo Switch, as expected, managed to outsell the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One once again in October, thanks to Super Mario Odyssey.

The best-selling game last month was Middle-Earth: Shadow of War, followed by Assassin’s Creed: Origins, and Super Mario Odyssey. Sony claimed the eleventh place with Gran Turismo Sport, which isn’t a strong performance from a PlayStation 4-exclusive. What about the two Bethesda games? They didn’t reach the top ten!

Although NPD did not include the digital sales (due to Nintendo and Bethesda not submitting these figures to them), Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus and The Evil Within 2 reached the thirteenth and fourteenth place, respectively. Wolfenstein only had a few days, though, but the new Mario game also launched on the same day, and it shot up to the podium, so there’s no excuse for Bethesda. Grand Theft Auto V managed to outsell both games with its twelveth place. Bethesda is not that successful recently: in May, Prey could not outsell Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Dishonored 2 did not reach the top ten a year ago.

Open world games continue to gain a foothold – we can’t wait to see the November charts due to the launch of the Xbox One X. Where will Call of Duty: WWII and Star Wars: Battlefront II finish?

TOP 10 lista:

  1. Middle-Earth: Shadow of War
  2. Assassin’s Creed: Origins
  3. Super Mario Odyssey
  4. South Park: The Fractured but Whole
  5. NBA 2K18
  6. La FIFA 18
  7. WWE 2K18
  8. Madden NFL 18
  9. Destin 2
  10. Forza Motorsport 7
