Barriss, who managed to kill someone via calling out the police on a harmless man (who was shot by the law enforcers), now maybe learns the lesson: swatting (calling out the police on streamers for alleged crimes when they did nothing wrong) is not a joke.
In December, we already wrote about how a swatting case in the United States cost a life. The case seems to continue: Glixel reports that Tyler Barriss was arrested on December 29 in California, then he was transported to Kansas state.
Here, the involuntary manslaughter is defined as killing that results from recklessness, the commission of a felony that is not otherwise „inherently dangerous,” or during a lawful act that’s committed unlawfully. The maximum penalty is three years in prison, as well as a 300 thousand dollar fine. However, Barriss is currently being held on a $500,000 bond.
The story doesn’t end here just yet: apparently, Barriss is also wanted in Canada! Globe and Mail reports that he tried to swat someone in Alberta, Calgary on December 22. In this case, the target, Lisa Vannatta (or STPeach on Twitch) was notified early by a viewer, which helped her notice the police about the hoax before anything could have happened.
