We learned some interesting news about Dying Light 2 thanks to a recent official statement from the developers of the game.
What we already knew is that Dying Light wants to be a huge step forward in terms of storytelling – the team behind the game hired one of the most talented writers in the game industry, Chris Avellone. But they also hired the writers who worked on The Witcher III’s best questline (Bloody Baron).
Today we also learned that in Dying Light 2 the day and night cycle will have a significant effect on the game. During the day everything is much calmer because the people who are living in this apocalyptic world for the past 15 years learned how to live together with zombies – the people rule when the sun is up basically. But when the night comes, more zombies come as well and they are much more aggressive. Some of the best gear can only be found during the night and some places can only be visited at that time.
The game will basically split into two different parts: to the calmer days with fewer fights and fear and to the more harsh and fearful nights that are also very dangerous. As for the story, Dying Light 2 will take place in a city that is for many people acts as the last bastion of humanity. This city will be very big too: the explorable space of Dying Light 2 will be four times as big as Dying Light and it’s DLC (The Following) combined.
We don’t know a release date yet, but Techland plans to release Dying Light 2 on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
