A question rose via a page of a game that is likely to be a next-gen title, with an ominous lack from its feature list.
On the NeoGAF forums, there’s a discussion going about how Halo Infinite doesn’t seem to feature Xbox Play Anywhere. Meanwhile, Gears 5 (which also has a 2019 release window confirmed), has the usual Xbox One, Windows 10, 4K UHD, HDR, Xbox One X Enhanced list, followed by the Xbox Play Anywhere logo!
Xbox Play Anywhere allows you to buy a game on either Xbox One or Windows 10, then receive it digitally on the other platform for no extra cost. Microsoft might be silently abandoning PC again (Halo 2 was the last Halo game officially on PC, and even that game came out with a 2-year delay on Windows Vista!), or, which could be the future: the next Xbox platform (or product line, if we believe the rumour) might be killing off this system altogether, making it obligatory in the process.
The next Xbox is officially in development, and we’ve heard several times how streaming could be coming forward, too. Perhaps this change in the gaming industry is the reason why Halo Infinite left Xbox Play Anywhere behind? Microsoft is hiding something from us…
