Casey Hudson, BioWare’s general manager, talked about how Anthem is approaching single-player stories in a multiplayer world in his latest, „mid-summer” blog post.
„[Our World, My Story] is one of the most innovative things about Anthem. In the dynamic open world, everything is experienced in real-time by all Anthem players—day/night, weather, and world-scale events that shape the ongoing narrative of the setting. This is ‘our world,’ which we share as a player community.
Then when you return to Fort Tarsis, that’s a single-player experience, and it’s where you spend time developing relationships, making choices, and seeing consequences. That’s the ‘my story’ part,” Hudson wrote.
He added that while this explanation wasn’t detailed, the team plans to reveal more information about Anthem‘s seemingly unique narrative system at a PAX event, which possibly means PAX West, which will be held between August 31 and September 3. He also said the following about Mass Effect and Dragon Age: „We have some teams hidden away working on some secret stuff that I think you’ll like. We’re just not ready to talk about any of it for a little while.” Perhaps they will at next year’s E3. They are up to something!
Anthem is out on February 22 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
