According to the devs, waiting for the next trailer will be worth it and we also learned in what mentality the game is being developed.
Capcom has an own podcast, called Capcom Confidential and in its newest episode, the developers of DMC5 talked a little bit about their game. They said that the scale of bosses will be incredible, there weren’t this huge bosses in any DMC game before.
What’s interesting too is that Nero’s van will function more of as a character rather than a simple vehicle, therefore character designers worked on it and they put a lot of small details into it. Who knows, maybe it will have some part in the gameplay as well.
One more important thing is that the devs wanted to make sure that every visual element feels realistic in the game, so they didn’t accept anything until they said it fits the realistic vision of the game (in terms of visuals). It’s not surprising, given the fact that it was stated multiple times already that DMC5 aims to have photo-realism basically.
Aside from this, Capcom Europe also talked about the DmC reboot. They loved Ninja Theory’s game, but they also know that fans wanted a proper DMC sequel, therefore they listened to the fans and did just that. However, they don’t want to go on the route that other companies – bending totally to fan’s will, because that’s harmful to the creative vision.
Basically – based on the game’s E3 trailer – they combined the hectic nature and style of the reboot with the storytelling of the old games.
Devil May Cry 5 is going to release next year on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
