The publisher that has been on a massive shopping rampage this year might be doing something shortly.
We can’t ignore THQ Nordic anymore. Half a year ago, they outright acquired Koch Media, the owners of Deep Silver, which meant they got a ton of IPs with the acquisition. They didn’t stop there: they announced that they bought two more intellectual properties.
They managed to get TimeSplitters and Second Sight. What is TimeSplitters? „TimeSplitters was largely considered as one of the most influential console games of the early 2000’s. The three-game series earned a large and passionate fan base thanks to its unique humour, art style and pop culture references while encouraging customisation and modification to give each person their individual experience. TimeSplitters was created by the development studio Free Radical Design that later became Deep Silver Dambuster, part of the THQ Nordic group,” the publisher says. So, the franchise is technically „coming home!”
Free Radical Design also developed Second Sight in 2004 for PS2, GC, and Xbox. In it, the protagonist, John Vattic, gained supernatural abilities throughout the sci-fi action-adventure game. Is THQ Nordic planning a sequel or a remaster?
THQ Nordic is possibly planning long-term with these two brands. They say that „full details of future TimeSplitters and Second Sight products will be revealed in due course.” We’ll see about that.
