Although E3 2018 wasn’t able to have the highest number of attendees ever, Cologne-held Gamescom, which is practically „the European E3,” was capable of breaking records.
The event, which celebrated its tenth anniversary this year, had 370 thousand people from 114 countries attend it, and 31200 of them were trade visitors. Only thirty per cent of the exhibitors were German. The United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and especially Austria had the most substantial growth in exhibitors. We can understand Austria, though: THQ Nordic has been on a rampant acquisition fever this year.
However, there’s the danger behind the records, too. Although the gaming industry is in good condition, the visitors had to experience congestion while experiencing the next significant games in the industry. Thus, Kölnmesse (the location where Gamescom is held) is going to try optimising the quality of stay next year.
Gamescom will be held between August 20 and 24 next year.
