Game Workers Unite, an international game developer union organisation, slams Telltale‘s plans to finish The Walking Dead: The Final Season.
Let’s quote their tweets: „This is disgusting. Pay your 250+ previous employees’ severance. The Walking Dead won’t be the same game without the craft and care of the workers who were fired. If Telltale can afford to partner and continue production, then they may be misrepresenting their „dire” financial conditions and possibly violating the California WARN Act.” (We previously wrote about this Act – violating it was the reason why former employees have filed a lawsuit against Telltale.)
And that’s not all: Variety reports that Telltale was in talks with two companies that could have saved them. However, the discussions fell into a ditch a week ago, and a day after, Telltale announced their closure. These two companies are AMC Networks (you might know them via their AMC TV channel!), and SmileGate (a South Korean game developer – they made CrossFire, and they are also making an MMORPG called Lost Ark).
We don’t know how Telltale plans to finish The Walking Dead yet, but something is happening behind the scenes – they have suspended the sales of The Final Season’s season pass/the full game…
