The first details might have leaked as well.
The 4chan rumours seem to have been regular recently. A few days ago, we discussed the new Xbox’ codename and announcement plan, as well as Rocksteady’s next game. Now, the same site has brought up further potential details about the upcoming Batman: Arkham game.
DC’s Arkham Universe would be a current-gen game on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, and it would include Batman, Robin (Tim), Nightwing, Batgirl, Batwoman, Catwoman, and Red Hood. They’d be playable in single-player, cooperatively, or, with some modes, in multiplayer as well (and they’d be all usable in free roam, too). Gotham, which is now meant to be a „living, breathing city,” is about 1.5x the size of the version seen in Arkham Knight; its districts and neighbourhoods have gone through a complete overhaul. There’d be a set time of day and weather (rain, overcast, snow), as well as Random crimes such as car chases, bank robberies, muggings, and more. (Set in the Arkhamverse!)
The main villain would be the Court of Owls, and the story would take inspiration from the different Court of Owls storylines. The game would play similarly to previous Arkham Games, but there’d be dual takedowns in combat and stealth (the latter would require working together). The main gadgets would mostly be the same as in the previous Arkham games, but there’d be new ones as well.
Batman has a redesigned Batmobile (only used for transportation), and the other characters have their cycles. The Batcave would serve as the central hub for upgrades, character swaps, new missions, and game modes. The parkour was improved, as the characters move a lot quicker and more fluid. Two new enemy types are known: they are the Talons (same as the ninjas in Arkham Knight: able to counter, as well as use their gadgets), and the Pilots (they hover the battlefield, a device or dual takedown is required to take them down).
Warner Bros. Montreal could develop the game (we have written about them in the past, and they made Arkham Origins in 2013), and their new game is likely to set to launch in Fall 2019 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. We’ll see.
