Sony Interactive Entertainment and Lenovo have struck a deal – the latter company will create its new VR headset based on the PlayStation VR‘s design plans.
The deal, which is going to be active for two years, allows Lenovo to have time to utilise Sony‘s PlayStation VR designs that they licensed to create their VR headset, called Lenovo Mirage. Quoting Riley Russell, Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Chief Legal Officer: „We are pleased to announce that we have licensed the PSVR headset design to Lenovo. The industrial design for PSVR has been widely acclaimed, and that was the result of years of hard work by PlayStation engineers. This agreement with Lenovo is a testament to the quality of PSVR’s design, as well as SIE’s commitment to creating great virtual reality experiences and helping the VR industry expand.” It would be outstanding if the PlayStation 4 would be supported by Lenovo‘s headset… but that’s possible! Sony handed the plans over to Lenovo…
We have to agree; the PlayStation VR is indeed more comfortable than its two main competitors, namely the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive on PC. While these are more powerful (with a beefy enough PC) than the PSVR, the comfort-factor does have importance…
