One of the surprise announcements at The Game Awards was the new Mortal Kombat, but it was expected, as NetherRealm was silent since Injustice 2.
Warner and NetherRealm try to appeal to the PC players, too: until now, the fighting games’ PC ports came out a few months after the Xbox One/PlayStation 4 version. Not this time: the release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC might be simultaneous for Mortal Kombat 11.
In the announcement trailer, we see Dark Raiden fight Scorpion, and there’s also a tease towards a new character, who is mentioned to be an essential character in Mortal Kombat 11‘s cinematic story. The game will also offer character customisation, which will probably be similar to Injustice 2’s approach.
Pre-ordering is available already – it will get you Shao Kahn, as well as a beta in March on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One -, and there’s also a 100-dollar/euro Deluxe version that brings you the base game and the Komba Pack (season pass).
Mortal Kombat 11‘s detailed reveal will happen on January 17 at 11 AM Pacific / 2 PM Eastern on Twitch, and the game „is scheduled for release beginning April 23, 2019” on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Going by the wording, a Switch delay, for example, seems likely at the moment.
