The Game Awards 2018: The Complete List Of Winners

The Game Awards 2018 is done, and the list of winners are announced – today’s news will be mainly about this event.

Multiple awards were handed out, and surprisingly, we found that Spider-Man didn’t get any, while another PlayStation 4-exclusive, namely God of War, gained several. Let’s take a look at the list (brackets have the developer/publisher):

  • Best performance (voice acting, motion and/or performance): Roger Clark (Arthur Morgan – Red Dead Redemption 2)
  • Games for Impact (thought-provoking game with a profound pro-social meaning or message): Celeste (Matt Makes Games)
  • Best indie game: Celeste (Matt Makes Games)
  • Best mobile game: Florence (Mountains)
  • Best VR/AR game: Astro Bot: Rescue Mission (SIE Japan Studio / Sony Interactive Entertainment)
  • Best action game: Dead Cells (Motion Twin)
  • Best action/adventure game: God of War (SIE Santa Monica Studio / Sony Interactive Entertainment)
  • Best RPG: Monster Hunter: World (Capcom)
  • Best fighting game: Dragon Ball FighterZ (Arc System Works / Bandai Namco Entertainment)
  • Best family game: Overcooked! 2 (Ghost Town Games / Team17)
  • Best strategy game: Into the Breach (Subset Games)
  • Best sports/racing game: Forza Horizon 4 (Playground Games / Turn 10 Studios / Microsoft Studios)

  • Best Student Game (the best student project created at the high school or college level): Combat 2018 (Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences – Norway)
  • Best debut game: The Messenger (Sabotage Studio)
  • Best eSports game: Overwatch (Blizzard Entertainment)
  • Best eSports player: Dominique “SonicFox” McLean (Echo Fox)
  • Best eSports team: Cloud9 (League of Legends)
  • Best eSports coach: Bok “Reapered” Han-gyu (Cloud9)
  • Best eSports event: League of Legends World Championship
  • Best eSports host: Eefje “Sjokz” Depoortere
  • Best eSports moment: C9 Comeback Win In Triple OT vs FAZE at ELEAGUE Major: Boston 2018
  • Content creator of the year: Ninja

Most games are Western-developed, which means we can go as far and say that 2018 was the year of the games developed outside Japan. God of War won multiple awards along with Red Dead Redemption 2. Congratulations to the winners!
