We have discussed the PlayStation Classic several times, and we don’t have a good opinion of it.
Now, here’s a video where the PlayStation Classic is compared to a hacked SNES mini that is capable of running PS1 games. The result is shocking…
Ridge Racer Type 4, one of the PS Classic games, runs far better on the modified mini-Super Nintendo than on Sony’s console! The short video below also mentions Tekken 3’s performance, but in the PS Classic‘s defence, the game doesn’t run as good on the Nintendo console…
The PlayStation Classic was hacked two days after its release by a Japanese Twitter user. He says he runs an image file off USB, and while it’s not automatic, he thinks it can be done that way, too…
実際にゲームのイメージファイルを作ってロードさせてみました。
刺してるところが映ってないけど、USBメモリから読み込んでます。
今は完全手動だけど、まあやればちゃんと組み込めるよね。プレイステーションクラシック ハック完了。

The irony here is that the PlayStation was initially meant to be an extension for the SNES, which then turned into a unique console dubbed the Nintendo Play Station (whose prototype has been found since) – now, Nintendo’s emulation machine (because let’s face it, these mini consoles are emulation platforms…) laps Sony‘s device. There are likely software reasons behind this performance, but the video doesn’t lie. Neither does DigitalFoundry’s analysis. John Linneman trashes the PlayStation Classic, and with concrete evidence!
